H&S training
Fire risk assessment
The Fire safety law is changing, from 1st October 2006, as an employer it is your responsibility to carry out a fire risk assessment for your premises. The emphasis will be on the prevention of fires and reducing the risk to your staff and customers. A certificate of attendance will be sent after the course.
H&S overview
This one-day course is designed for managers and supervisors who need an overview of the main legislative requirements as well as a good understanding of what they can do to prevent accidents in their area of control. A certificate of attendance will be sent after the course.
Back care
The essentials of safe lifting & handling, how to avoid injury, this training also looks at the responsibilities of the individual and the employer.
Working at height
This training will look at the main risks of working at height, how to manage these risks, selecting the right equipment, use of ladders and legislative requirements.
HR training
Employment law and handling problem staff
Having a basic understanding of the key requirements will help you distinguish between ‘law’ and ‘lore.’ These sessions cover employment contracts and changing these, dismissals, entitlements to time off, and discrimination law. Delegates can also take advantage of a very useful and extensive ‘Question & Answer’ session. Delegates can attend either the morning or afternoon sessions or both. A sandwich lunch will be provided for those delegates who stay for the afternoon session.
How to supervise and appraise staff effectively
Effective supervision and appraisal helps prevent performance problems and can aid motivation and succession planning. This session allows managers and supervisors to understand the key skills and processes involved including giving constructive feedback, listening skills and how to ask the right questions
.
Effective recruitment
This training covers the basic understanding of the rights and responsibilities of the employer and employee when recruiting new staff. This practical one day session gives managers an introduction to employment law and practice around recruitment.
Certificate in food hygiene
Food handlers are now required, under the Food Safety Act 1990, to hold a Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene. A short exam will take place at the end of the day, which will be marked by The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Attendees will receive a Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene.
First Aid training
Emergency first aid
This training covers the basics of emergency first aid including basic life support, resuscitation, dealing with minor injuries such as burns, scalds, broken bones, choking. A certificate of attendance will be issued after the course.
Office Skills training
Meeting skills
This course is an essential for all office staff, how to structure & manage a meeting, make the most of minute taking meeting etiquette and running to time.
Time management
This training will help you identify how you spend your time, help you devise an action plan to ensure you use your time more effectively - a must for all staff!!

An integral part of a manager's role is to be able to effectively coach and train their team. This short course is designed to give supervisors the skills and confidence to develop and deliver training sessions for their staff.
