We can help you to decide on a career path, and work out what you will need to do to achieve your goal. If you need a basic skills assessment, we can arrange for you to have one. I want to go back to work now my children are growing up, where do I start?
If you have been out of work for a long time, you will need to update your CV. You will have gained skills and experiences during this time. You may, however be a little nervous about going back to work. NewCEP runs courses that can help you with regaining confidence and direction. We will also be able to help you with local job search. If you would like some work experience to help you regain your confidence, we may be able to arrange an unpaid short-term placement locally.

What! You're not a job agency?
No.
We do not have a selection of jobs available at any time.
We do, however, have good contacts with local employers who will sometimes let us know if they have any vacancies.
Can I get help if I'm already in work?
If you are working minimal hours, for example, 16 hours or less, we may be able to help you.
If you are about to be made redundant, or working casual hours, we can see you.
Our service is primarily for people out of work.
I left school with no qualifications. I am over 20 now and would like to return to learning. How much will this cost me?
The cost would depend on the type of course or courses that you would like to do.
NewCEP can help with these depending on the cost and subject matter.
It would also depend on your personal circumstances - if the course will lead to a recognized qualification, and ultimately to a job, we are more likely to be able to help.
We will often ask for a contribution towards course fees etc to help our funds go further.
We also reserve the right to request a refund from you if we pay for a course for you and you do not attend, and do not notify us in good time.
Remember, if you are over 20, and have no qualifications, tuition fees for certain courses are free anyway – what’s stopping you?!
I have been ill for some time, I need to work, but I’m not sure if I can manage
We can help you get back to work gradually. You may like to start with a short course, and maybe progress to a volunteer position to help you gain experience and confidence. We can also signpost you to organisations that can help you with the transition back to health and work.
Can you help me find voluntary work?
We can signpost you to various voluntary organisations, depending on what you feel you would like to do. We can help you to access websites that will help you to match your skills with the requirements of the organisations. |
