Summerhayes has been very busy with lots of activities and new courses running. The ever-popular mindfulness course is running again and teaches techniques to relax and manage stress, anxiety, and depression. New courses have included a taster course in counselling skills which was well reviewed, and a course called Living Well with Pain, which offers helpful techniques to people who experience pain or illness. The Easter Indulgence evening was very popular with a range of well-being activities on offer. People took time out of their busy lives to slow down and experience relaxing therapies. Summerhayes has picked itself up after the disruption we experienced with our major building works. Numbers are back up and the centre is busy from opening to closing time, and increasingly during evenings. People have been very positive about the new layout and refurbishment. Our thanks go to everyone involved and to the local community for this support. The Summerhayes model has been well reviewed by a range of surveys including the East Sussex County Council Day Service review, and this is very encouraging to all who have supported Summerhayes and Newhaven Community Development Association. Further information and booking about activities is available through calling Summerhayes on 01273 612360. E-mail: info@summerhayes.org.uk
